Just received the frame... Packaging was more than adequate. Frame has really clean welds.. the finish is ok... Not a fan of the stickers, but wasn't willing to pay an additional charge for the etching... The frame is currently with my LBS getting built up... I will provide an update on how the bike performs after a few 100 miles... One thing I was not pleased with is the lack of a front clamp for the derailleur... I believe this should come with the frame. More importantly Lynskey doesn't offer it on their site... I ended up buying some off brand from Amazon to get the build going... Looking forward to seeing what all the hype on titanium is about...
The frame built up pretty easily although some cable housing needed convincing that was the way they were going to go. The ride is fantastic. I would not say it is snappy. More like driving a Rolls than a Porsche. The only niggle I have is the way the left chain stay joins the brake caliper bracket. It is somewhat prominent and the heal of my size 47 cycling shoe hits is once in a while. I have the cleats in a neutral angle and as far inboard as possible. This would only be an issue for large shoe sizes and longer crank lengths.
Absolutely love this frameset! My previous bike was a '99 Litespeed Classic. So when I decided to build a new bike I had a very specific set of criteria, titanium, geometry, disk tabs...so Lynskey was an obvious place to start. I choose the Helix because the geometry was almost an exact match! The only noticeable difference is the Helix is a sloping top tube, but the effective length matches my Classic. My build includes full Dura-Ace, Hope RX4 brakes and INine AR25 wheelset. The compliant ride from the frameset and wheels to the high proformance of the Dura-Ace and Hope component are the dream ride I was pursuing! Very happy with my Lynskey.
